Ward Updates

Parks Maintenance Spring Update

Summer’s just around the corner, and the City’s Parks team has been hard at work getting Ottawa’s water amenities ready for the season!

  • Docks: All 28 docks and boat launches along the Rideau and Ottawa Rivers have been successfully installed.

  • Beaches: Crews have cleaned and prepped Petrie Island, Britannia, and Mooney’s Bay. Westboro Beach will also reopen this summer after being offline for a few years.

How you can help keep park spaces clean: Please place your garbage in waste bins or take it home with you. If you spot something that needs attention, call 3-1-1 or submit a service request online.

Richmond Postilion Parkette Survey Closes July 3

The City is seeking input on the proposed design for Postilion Parkette, a new park planned for Richmond Village, just north of Perth Street along the future east-west multi-use pathway.

Two revised design options are now available. Both feature outdoor fitness equipment, picnic tables, benches, and open play areas. Your feedback is important, as earlier survey results showed that residents want a more dynamic and engaging space.

New Economic Development Dashboard is a One-Stop Shop for Local Data

The City of Ottawa has launched a new Economic Development Dashboard, a one-stop shop for data on the health of our local economy with an added focus on the downtown core.

With just a click, you can explore up-to-date numbers on:

  • Jobs and labour force trends

  • Real estate and construction activity

  • Population, income, and livability

  • Downtown foot traffic, vacancies, permits, and more

This interactive dashboard replaces the City’s quarterly reports and makes it easier than ever to track key economic indicators all in one place.

Agriculture Exemption Program: Last Chance to Share Your Feedback!

The City of Ottawa wants your input on the Agriculture Exemption Program, but time is running out. The survey closes June 30, so don’t miss this chance to have your say.

This program supports the unique waste management needs of rural communities by allowing eligible residential agricultural properties to place unlimited unavoidable farm waste like bale wrap, twine, and plastic drainage tiles at the curb for collection.

Thanks to a motion I helped pass at City Council, this exemption has been extended through December 2025, beyond the typical April to May window.

Give your feedback by June 30 by filling out the survey on Engage Ottawa.

Need help with the survey?

Your feedback will help shape the future of rural waste collection. Thank you for taking the time to share your voice.

It was a pleasure to help represent Ward 20 during the campaign period, alongside Councillor Kitts. I also want to thank the Ward 20 office team for their support while I was covering the ward.

Out & About

I had a great time at the Goulbourn Lawn Bowling Club’s Open House on Saturday, June 14, as part of the ParticipACTION Community Challenge. I joined Councillors Curry, Hubley, and Tierney for a friendly match.

There was a great turnout at the Brain Injury Awareness Month Bike Rodeo on Saturday, June 14. It was a family-friendly event focused on bike safety and brain health. Thanks to BrainSTRONG Network and Ottawa Police Service for organizing!

It was a lovely afternoon at the Goulbourn Township Historical Society’s Strawberry Social in Stittsville on Saturday, June 14.

Councillor Wilson Lo joined me on June 15 at the 2025 Buddha’s Light Vegetarian Food Fair, held at the Fo Guang Shan Temple of Ottawa in Richmond. We enjoyed sampling a variety of delicious dishes.

Everyone had a fun time at the Golf4Youth tournament dinner at Stonebridge Golf Club. I didn’t golf, but I was glad to join by so many community members in supporting the Youth of Manotick Association (YOMA).

It was a pleasure to support the Rural Ottawa South Support Services’ 4th annual Ride for ROSSS by flipping burgers for riders at Lagois Design Build Renovate.

It was a great afternoon at the Richmond Firefighters' Chicken BBQ at the Fairgrounds on June 21. A big thank you to our local volunteer firefighters for hosting this annual community event!

I attended a special afternoon in Manotick on June 22 to honour Dr. Jason Kelly with a BBQ and tree dedication at the Rideau Valley Conservation Centre. Dr. Kelly served as Chair of the Rideau Valley Conservation Foundation for 11 years, helping to shape more than a decade of conservation progress in the watershed.
