Ottawa’s $1.9 Billion Capital Infrastructure Investment Season Begins

As Ottawa’s capital infrastructure season gets underway, I am pleased to share that scheduling has already begun for several road renewal projects in Ward 21. This is an exciting time for our community, as we begin to see major infrastructure investments move from planning into construction.

This year, Ward 21 has received more than $22.4 million in capital infrastructure investments. That includes over $4 million for culvert construction, over $5 million for intersection improvements, and over $10 million for road rehabilitation and upgrade projects. These investments represent important work on the roads, bridges, intersections, and drainage infrastructure that residents rely on every day.

Some project timelines are already being confirmed, while others are still being finalized by City staff. As those details become available, I will continue to keep residents informed through the construction updates section at the bottom of each newsletter, the construction tab at the top of our website, and the Google Earth infrastructure mapping tool that our office created.

This work will include road renewal projects, culvert renewals, bridge rehabilitations, and intersection improvements. Many of these projects will involve some combination of road closures, detours, and lane reductions, so I know they will require patience from residents, commuters, and local businesses. Construction can be inconvenient, but it is also necessary to renew the infrastructure that supports our rural communities.

I am very pleased to see this level of investment coming to Ward 21. These projects reflect advocacy, planning, and attention to the infrastructure needs of our communities. I will continue working with City staff to track timelines, share updates, and make sure residents have the information they need as construction moves forward.
