Special Advance Voting Days for Ottawa’s 2026 Municipal Elections will take place from October 1 to 4

Special Advance Voting Days for Ottawa’s 2026 Municipal Elections will take place from Thursday, October 1 to Sunday, October 4, between 10 am and 8 pm.   

During Special Advance Voting Days, eligible electors can vote at any of the 10 voting places across the City, regardless of their qualifying address: 

• CARDELREC Recreation Complex Goulbourn, 1500 Shea Road

• Churchill Seniors Recreation Centre, 345 Richmond Road

• City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West

• François Dupuis Recreation Centre, 2263 Portobello Boulevard

• Greely Community Centre, 1448 Meadow Drive

• Diane Deans Greenboro Community Centre, 363 Lorry Greenberg Drive

• Minto Recreation Complex – Barrhaven, 3500 Cambrian Road

• Nepean Sportsplex, 1701 Woodroffe Avenue

• Richcraft Recreation Complex – Kanata, 4101 Innovation Drive

• St-Laurent Complex, 525 Côté Street
  
  

Electors who have a voter notification letter are encouraged to bring it to the voting place, but it is not required for voting.

Electors whose names do not appear on the Voters’ List, or who wish to amend their information, can do so at any of the above locations on voting days. Applications to add or amend information on the Voters’ List will be available at every voting place and are easy to fill out on-site.

Acceptable forms of identification

Electors are required to present a piece of identification to receive a ballot at their voting place. The identification must show their name and qualifying Ottawa address. Photo identification is not required. Find the list of acceptable identification on ottawa.ca/vote.

If an acceptable proof of identity and residence cannot be presented, the elector can make a statutory declaration prior to being issued a ballot.

Voters in Training event

Parents and guardians are encouraged to bring their kids with them to the voting place when they go to vote. Children in attendance can participate in the Voters in Training event during Special Advance Voting Days and cast their own Voters in Training ballot. They will also receive their own “I voted early” sticker.

Additional voting opportunities

Electors who do not vote during Special Advance Voting Days can vote during Advance Voting Day on Friday, October 16, or Voting Day on Monday, October 26. 

On these days, electors can vote at their assigned voting place within their Ward. Electors can find their assigned voting places by using the “Where do I vote?” tool on ottawa.ca/vote.

Unable to make it to a voting place? Electors can appoint a proxy to vote on their behalf by completing the required forms and having them certified by City of Ottawa staff. To learn more about appointing a proxy, visit ottawa.ca/vote.

Special Ballot Voter Kits will be mailed to electors whose applications were approved between September 21 and 25. Electors voting by mail are reminded that completed Special Ballot Voter Kits must be received by the Elections Office or a City of Ottawa Client Service Centre by 8 pm on October 16. Special Ballot Voter Kits received after the deadline will not be counted. 

The Elections Office and Client Service Centres will offer extended hours during advance voting events for the purpose of certifying proxy forms and receiving special mail in ballots:  

• October 1-4 from 8:30 am to 5 pm.  

• October 16 from 8:30 am to 8 pm.
