This community event is perfect for those looking to improve their skills for yard work and forest management. Please note that this is a hands-on session where you will be working with your own equipment.
Session 1: Safety & Maintenance

Time: 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM
Notes: This indoor session is a prerequisite for courses 2 and 3. Topics include chainsaw safety, PPE, equipment familiarization, and sharpening.
Session 2: Operations – Bucking & Limbing
Date: May 2, 2026
Time: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Notes: Includes 50% indoor instruction and 50% hands-on experience. Topics include kickback awareness, forces acting on trees, and cutting firewood lengths.
Session 3: Felling
Date: May 3, 2026
Time: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Notes: A full-day course with 50% indoor and 50% forest-based practice. Topics include risk factors, reading a tree, notches, back-cuts, and plunge cuts.
