The City of Ottawa's Heritage Funding Program is now accepting applications. This program supports activities and programming by individuals or organizations that promote community heritage, Anishinabe Algonquin Nation history, and the telling of Ottawa stories.

This program provides funding for a wide range of projects, including:

  • Heritage Awareness: Events, historical re-enactments, agricultural fairs, educational programs, and multimedia history initiatives.

  • Indigenous Heritage: Activities that support the revitalization of Anishinabe Algonquin Nation, First Nations, Métis, and Inuit heritage, such as pow wows, storytelling, language preservation, and land-based learning.

  • Research & Documentation: New research into Ottawa’s history, book proposals, oral history projects, and documentation of collections or heritage assets.

  • Preservation/Conservation: Activities like archaeological digs, conservation assessments, and preservation of local artifacts (please note: individuals are not eligible for this category).
